Holistic Ayurvedic Care for Fibromyalgia — Regulating the Nervous System, Relieving Widespread Musculoskeletal Pain, and Restoring Vitality at the Root
Ayurvedic management for fibromyalgia — addressing widespread pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbance at the root.
Fibromyalgia — Overview & Ayurvedic Understanding
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterised by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, and cognitive difficulties ('fibro fog'). Conventional medicine manages symptoms with painkillers and antidepressants, but Ayurvedic treatment addresses the underlying nervous system dysregulation through Panchakarma therapies, stress management, internal medicines, and lifestyle restructuring — often achieving significant symptom relief.
Symptoms of Fibromyalgia
Widespread body pain lasting more than 3 months, extreme fatigue not relieved by rest, sleep disturbance (unrefreshing sleep), cognitive difficulties (memory, concentration), morning stiffness, headaches, IBS-like digestive symptoms, sensitivity to touch, temperature, light, and sound, anxiety and depression.
Causes & Risk Factors for Fibromyalgia
Exact cause unknown — involves central sensitisation (amplified pain signals in the nervous system). Triggers include physical or emotional trauma, chronic stress, infections, genetic predisposition, hormonal imbalances, and sleep disorders. More common in women (7:1 ratio). Often coexists with RA, lupus, or other autoimmune conditions.
How We Diagnose Fibromyalgia
Clinical diagnosis based on ACR criteria (widespread pain in 4 of 5 body regions for >3 months), tender point examination, blood tests to rule out thyroid disorders, RA, lupus, and vitamin D deficiency.
Fibromyalgia — Surgery vs Non-Surgical Ayurvedic Treatment
When Surgery Is the Right Path
Surgery is not applicable for fibromyalgia. Treatment is entirely conservative — Ayurvedic therapies, lifestyle modification, and supportive care.
We maintain transparent referral relationships with leading orthopaedic and specialist surgeons.
Ayurvedic Therapies for Fibromyalgia
These are examples of classical Ayurvedic therapies that may be selected for your programme depending on your condition, stage, and constitutional type. Your treating physician decides which therapies are appropriate — no two programmes are the same.

WhatsApp for Help Choosing →Mild and less active rheumatic conditions can often be managed with medicines and periodic review after consultation — sometimes alongside your existing treatment. Many cases, and more active or advanced disease, respond best to visiting therapy or an inpatient programme, as your physician advises.
Treatment cost
We do not publish a price for fibromyalgia treatment, and that is deliberate. AVN Arogya does not use fixed protocols — the treating physician designs each programme individually, and it is that protocol which determines the cost.
It is only at the end of your consultation that the physician can say which kind of care you actually need:
- Outpatient — medicines to take at home, with review visits. The least involved option, and for many people it is enough.
- Visiting therapy — you come in for therapy sessions over a period and return home the same day.
- Inpatient admission — you stay with us for intensive daily therapy. Here the estimate also depends on the duration the physician recommends and the room category you choose.
Once those are decided we give you a written estimate for your own plan, including what your insurance is likely to cover. Quoting a figure before the assessment would mean quoting one that may not apply to you.

We understand this conversation can be difficult. A few approaches that work: (1) Start with a telemedicine consultation — hearing from a qualified physician is more convincing than a website, (2) Share specific case outcomes for their condition (we can provide references), (3) Emphasise that we work WITH their existing doctors, not against them, (4) Reassure them that they won't be asked to stop current medicines, (5) If they're hesitant about travel, our visiting specialists at 6 clinics across 6 cities may be closer. Our care coordinators are experienced at having these conversations with families.
Consultation fees are ₹150 for a phone (tele) consultation with a Physician or Senior Physician, ₹300 for an in-person consultation and for a review with a Senior Consultant Physician, and ₹500 for a video consultation with a Senior Consultant Physician. First-time patients pay a one-time registration fee of ₹50 in addition, except for phone consultations. OP therapy packages are quoted separately, based on the treatment plan your physician recommends after the consultation. We provide a detailed cost estimate before treatment begins — no surprises.
