About Kati Vasti

Kati Vasti is a localised Vasti therapy where warm medicated oil is pooled over the lumbar spine within a sealed dough ring. The sustained heat and absorption of medicated oil into the lumbar region makes it particularly useful for disc-related pain, spondylolisthesis, sacroiliitis, and chronic lumbar spondylosis — once acute inflammation has been settled.

When Kati Vasti may — and may not — be appropriate

May be appropriate for

  • Lumbar disc prolapse (outside acute flare)
  • Chronic lumbar spondylosis
  • Sciatica (in appropriate stages)
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Chronic low-back pain
  • Post-surgical spine recovery

When it should NOT be done

  • Acute disc prolapse with active inflammation
  • Acute sacroiliitis with marked inflammation
  • Skin infections at the site
  • Bleeding disorders (relative)
  • Always a physician-judged call based on stage and current inflammation

The decision is always individualised by your treating physician.

What to Expect During Kati Vasti

Deeply relaxing local sensation; pain reduction often noticeable from day 3-5.
