Virechanam
Also known as Therapeutic Purgation
Controlled therapeutic purgation for Pitta-dominant conditions — a cornerstone of Ayurvedic liver, skin, and autoimmune care.
Whether this therapy is right for you is a physician's decision
About Virechanam
Virechana is therapeutic purgation that clears Pitta-related toxins from the small intestine, liver, and gallbladder region. One of the most widely useful Panchakarma procedures — applicable across skin disorders, autoimmune diseases, liver conditions, and certain gynaecological presentations.
When Virechanam may — and may not — be appropriate
May be appropriate for
- Chronic skin conditions (psoriasis, eczema, urticaria)
- Rheumatic and autoimmune disorders
- Liver and hepatobiliary disorders
- Headaches with Pitta predominance
- Gynaecological conditions with Pitta involvement
When it should NOT be done
- Debility, dehydration, recent GI surgery
- Children without paediatric-specific protocol
- Late pregnancy
- States of severe diarrhoea or malabsorption
The decision is always individualised by your treating physician.
