Back pain

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek care at AVN. It can be acute (from a strain or disc injury) or chronic (from spondylosis, stenosis, or disc degeneration). Most back pain — including that from disc prolapse or sciatica — responds excellently to non-surgical Ayurvedic treatment combined with targeted physiotherapy.

Common Causes of Back pain

  • Lumbar disc prolapse or bulge
  • Spinal stenosis or spondylolisthesis
  • Muscle strain or ligament injury
  • Age-related disc degeneration (spondylosis)
  • Poor posture and sedentary lifestyle
  • Referred pain (kidney, gynaecological)

When to Seek Urgent Medical Care for Back pain

  • Sudden weakness or foot drop
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control (urgent — cauda equina)
  • Unexplained weight loss with back pain
