Urethritis

Urethritis is inflammation of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body. It typically causes burning or pain on passing urine, a frequent urge to urinate and sometimes a discharge. It is most often due to infection, including sexually transmitted infections, but can also follow irritation from soaps or catheters. A urine test usually identifies the cause.
