Ankylosing Spondylitis
Modern MedicalAnkylosing spondylitis (AS) is a long-term inflammatory autoimmune disease that mainly affects the spine and the sacroiliac joints, where the spine meets the pelvis. It usually begins in the late teens or twenties with low back pain and stiffness that is worse in the morning and eases with movement. Over time, some vertebrae can fuse.
