Absence of sweating, which can impair the body's ability to cool itself.
Anhidrosis is the absence of normal sweating, either over the whole body or in patches. Because sweating is how the body cools itself, people with widespread anhidrosis can overheat quickly in hot weather or during exercise, with flushing, dizziness or muscle cramps. It may be caused by nerve damage, skin conditions, dehydration, some medicines or inherited disorders. Sweat tests help confirm it.
