Surgical removal of the adenoids.
Adenoidectomy is a surgical operation to remove the adenoids, a pad of lymph tissue high at the back of the nose. It is usually done in children whose enlarged or repeatedly infected adenoids cause blocked breathing, snoring, mouth breathing or recurring ear infections. The operation is performed through the mouth under general anaesthetic and is often combined with removal of the tonsils.
