Sacroiliitis
Modern MedicalSacroiliitis is inflammation of one or both sacroiliac joints, where the base of the spine joins the pelvis. It causes pain in the lower back and buttocks that may spread into the thigh, and is often worse after sitting or standing for long periods or on climbing stairs. It is a common early feature of ankylosing spondylitis and is confirmed with examination and imaging such as MRI.
