Rhinosinusitis

Modern Medical

Rhinosinusitis is inflammation of both the nasal lining and the sinuses, the air-filled spaces in the bones of the face. Because the two are connected, swelling in one usually involves the other. Typical symptoms are a blocked nose, thick nasal discharge, pressure or pain around the cheeks and forehead, and a reduced sense of smell. It may be short-lived after a cold or persist for months.

Definition

Combined inflammation of the nose and sinuses, causing nasal blockage, facial pressure and discharge.
