Enlargement of the lymph nodes, often due to infection or inflammation.
Lymphadenopathy means enlarged lymph nodes, the small bean-shaped glands in the neck, armpits, groin and elsewhere that help fight infection. Swollen nodes are most often a sign that the body is dealing with an infection or inflammation nearby, and usually shrink as it settles. Nodes that are hard, painless, growing or last more than a few weeks should be checked by a doctor.
