Hyperuricaemia

Hyperuricaemia means raised levels of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is a waste product formed when the body breaks down substances called purines, found in some foods. Many people with high levels have no symptoms, but crystals can form in joints and cause gout, or in the kidneys and cause stones. It is measured with a blood test.
