Enlargement of the liver.
Hepatomegaly means an enlarged liver. It is not a disease in itself but a sign that something is affecting the liver, such as fatty liver, hepatitis, alcohol use, heart failure or certain blood disorders. It may cause no symptoms or a feeling of fullness under the right ribs. Doctors may feel it during examination and confirm it with an ultrasound scan.
