Weakness affecting one side of the body.
Hemiparesis is weakness of one side of the body, affecting the arm, leg and sometimes the face on that side. Unlike paralysis, some movement remains. It is most often caused by a stroke, but head injury, brain tumours and other nerve conditions can also cause it. People may notice difficulty gripping, walking steadily or keeping their balance.
