Persistent bad breath.
Halitosis is persistent bad breath that does not go away with ordinary brushing or mouthwash. Most cases begin in the mouth, from bacteria on the tongue, gum disease, tooth decay or a dry mouth. Less often it reflects problems in the sinuses, throat, stomach or elsewhere in the body. A dental check is usually the first step in finding the cause.
