Surgical removal of haemorrhoids (piles).
Haemorrhoidectomy is an operation to remove haemorrhoids, the swollen blood vessels in and around the anus commonly called piles. It is usually considered when piles are large, bleed repeatedly, prolapse outside the anus or have not settled with simpler measures. The procedure is done under anaesthesia, and recovery often involves some pain and care with bowel habits for a few weeks.
