Encephalitis
Modern MedicalEncephalitis is inflammation of the brain, usually caused by a viral infection and sometimes by the immune system attacking the brain. It is a serious condition. It may begin with fever and headache, then progress to confusion, drowsiness, seizures, changes in behaviour or weakness. It needs emergency hospital care, with brain scans, a lumbar puncture and blood tests to find the cause.
