Abnormal levels of fats (cholesterol or triglycerides) in the blood.
Dyslipidaemia means abnormal levels of fats in the blood, such as high LDL cholesterol, high triglycerides or low HDL, the protective cholesterol. It usually causes no symptoms, so it is found through a lipid profile blood test. It matters because it raises the risk of heart attack and stroke. Diet, physical activity, body weight, genes and diabetes all influence it.
