Costochondritis
Modern MedicalCostochondritis is inflammation of the cartilage that joins the ribs to the breastbone. It causes sharp or aching pain at the front of the chest, often worse when pressing on the area, breathing deeply, coughing or moving. It is usually harmless and settles with time, but because chest pain can signal a heart problem, it should always be checked by a doctor.
