Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood around the body. The muscle may become enlarged, thickened or stiff. Symptoms include breathlessness, tiredness, swelling of the ankles and legs, and palpitations. It can be inherited or follow other conditions. An echocardiogram, ECG and blood tests are used to diagnose it.
