Pichu

About Pichu

Pichu is a localised therapy where a thick cotton pad soaked in warm medicated oil is placed over a specific area — typically the spine (Kati Pichu, Greeva Pichu), scalp (Shiro Pichu), or a joint. The sustained oil contact provides deep therapeutic absorption without the active massage of Abhyanga.

When Pichu may — and may not — be appropriate

May be appropriate for

  • Chronic spinal conditions (Shiro Pichu)
  • Paediatric developmental conditions
  • Post-stroke and certain neurological conditions
  • Chronic scalp conditions

When it should NOT be done

  • Active inflammation at site
  • Open skin lesions
  • Acute infections

The decision is always individualised by your treating physician.

What to Expect During Pichu

Gentle, sustained warmth; often combined with Abhyanga in the same session.
