Nattarayasamy, Madurai

My name is Nattarayasamy. I retired here in Madurai as an assistant divisional manager at the LIC office. It is nearly fifteen years now since I retired. At this age, this joint pain and back pain comes, does it not; and because it was rather severe for me, we first tried allopathic treatment. Because that was a temporary relief, it did not resolve permanently. Then, thinking we should try Ayurveda, we bought medicine at a small Ayurvedic store and took it. That gave some improvement. Before that we had even bought and taken medicine at an Ayurvedic hospital in Ernakulam. I knew that AVN was here in Madurai. But because the claim was a little difficult with our office at first, we did not come; and now that all of that has been cleared, we enquired at the AVN Arogya Ayurvedic hospital here and have come. I had come once before. That is, when I first came, I think it was 2014 or 2015. We came in 2015. At that time I stayed about ten days and it resolved well. Now, again — they had said that after three or four years it is very good to come back and stay ten days and take that treatment again, and so now in 2019 I have come again and have been taking treatment here for ten days. From the difficulty I had when I came, nearly 75% of the complaints have reduced and it has come to a reasonably good state. If I take the medicines and tablets they have given for another month or two, we can come to a still better state and get a good improvement. When the doctor saw me here, first Dr. Biju, my senior doctor, was there; I saw him and consulted him, and it was he who admitted me and advised me to take the treatment. Accordingly we took the treatment. The physicians here and the nurses too all carry out their work with a smile and with pleasure. That gives us a reasonable contentment. Because the medicine is half of it, and how the rest of the treatment is in our minds is theother half; the hospitality, the attention and the medicine they give are all a way of bringing our health forward. It works excellently. I know this has been here nearly eighty years. I too have lived in Madurai for fifty or sixty years. So this hospital operates in a very good way. The place itself has a natural setting, and that alone reduces half your illness. So that setting in which they give the treatment, and the nurses here and their attention, all of it works excellently, so there is every chance of our recovering quickly. For me too, having come, there is a good improvement now and the complaint has eased; I have recovered to about 75%. A little more — because at an old age one cannot expect a 100% recovery. If I go home and combine the medicines they gave, the exercises they taught and the dietary restrictions, then certainly we will be in good bodily health and there is nothing else to it. Because in old age it is best that we look after ourselves. The one reason is that we should not have to depend on another person for anything. We are not going to do any hard work any more. To that extent they set our health right for us. Because the method of treatment given here is the Ayurvedic method. Medicine, and besides that the oil, and the herbal medicines, and the fomentation we are given, and what is called massage — applying those medicines all over the body and rubbing them in so that they are absorbed, doing that massage. Along with that, changing the medicines to suit the complaint, changing the herbal medicines, applying them and giving the fomentation — that is the sort of treatment they gave me. That is, massaging, oil massage, varied and changed about. The chief reason in this is that, in order to expel the residues in the stomach, if we stay here ten days they give lemon for two or three days. The reason is that the stomach is cleared and acondition arises in which we can take the medicine. So the massage they give, the fomentation and all of it work excellently for us and build up our health.
