My name is Padmanaban. I have come from a place called Eliyarpathi, about 20 kilometres from Madurai. For four or five years I have had pain in my knee. It came from a small injury and a sprain in the leg. Because of a treatment taken unknowingly in the village, a sort of pain came into the knee. For five years I struggled badly and lived with the pain. Then I thought it would be good to go to Ayurveda. I have known about Ayurveda well for a very long time, because I have been coming to this Ayyappan temple for many years. So I have known the senior doctor for many years. Through that, I came to this hospital, thinking why should I not take treatment here. About three or four months ago I saw the senior man, Warrier sir, and it was from him that I took medicine. He had given medicine for two months. After that was finished I came twice more. When I came the third time, sir was not here, so I saw Dr. Biju sir. Then, when he gave a month's medicine, I had a good improvement of more than 60%. My legs had a kind of stiffness. I could not walk. Walking quickly and properly on the leg was another matter — I could not even take a step. I struggled that much. But with the medicine he gave, all the stiffness went right. So after giving the medicine, when I came again, they asked why I should not be admitted for a week's treatment. For that I came here for a week and was admitted on the 25th. As of today my ten days of treatment are finished. Every morning, from seven to eight, oil massage. This oil massage is a new experience. For a good ten or fifteen minutes, from the feet, from the sole right up to the head, working the leg well. After that they heat the oil and pour it from a vessel, letting it fall like a stream of water as though from a pipe, and when they do that the body feels so refreshed. Likewise on the back for an hour, and after that the style in which they rub itin, the way they massage — all of it was a very novel experience and it was good. The first day felt a bit odd. Then in the afternoon they put something like a plastic ring around the knee, sealing it round, and pour heated oil inside it. For about ten minutes — five minutes it stays. After that, after five minutes, they take the oil out, heat it again and pour it back. This treatment continues in this way for about half an hour. After half an hour they remove that and massage it again for about half an hour. And so about an hour in the evening. In between, they gave what they call an Ayurvedic enema once. Now, beyond all of that, after the week was finished they said physiotherapy should be done, and extended it by three days, and I am here for another three days for that. During this time there was a treatment called Navarakizhi, with milk and something else, and they massage the whole body with it. A novel experience. From how much pain I struggled with when I came, the pain has reduced completely for me, by about 90%. I am very happy. That is to say, a wonderful treatment. Every department of the staff here — from morning to evening, each one kindly saying, I come from quality control, I come from catering, I come from housekeeping, I come from here, I come from medical. When people from each department come separately and ask after us as warmly as our own family would, it is a great pleasure to the heart. These ten days have been a wonderful treatment from every quarter. They treated me well and cooperatively. To this hospital, and to Dr. Biju sir who looked after me well, I offer my heartfelt good wishes that they stay in good health and that this hospital grows well, giving good treatment like this to many people like me.
