Definition
Inflammation of the tissues surrounding a joint, most commonly the shoulder (periarthritis of the shoulder). It causes pain and restricted movement and is closely related to frozen shoulder.
Periarthritis is inflammation of the tissues around a joint, such as the capsule, tendons and bursae, rather than the joint itself. It most commonly affects the shoulder, where it causes pain and restricted movement, especially when lifting the arm or reaching behind. Periarthritis of the shoulder is closely related to frozen shoulder and is diagnosed mainly by clinical examination.
