Definition
Death of bone tissue due to loss of blood supply, most commonly affecting the femoral head (hip joint). Classified in Grades 1-4. At AVN Arogya, Ayurvedic treatment is mainly used in Grades 1-3, before the joint surface has collapsed.
Avascular Necrosis (AVN)
Modern MedicalAvascular necrosis (AVN), also called osteonecrosis, is the death of bone tissue caused by loss of its blood supply. It most often affects the head of the thigh bone at the hip joint. Early on it may cause groin or hip pain on walking, which can worsen as the weakened bone collapses. It is graded from 1 to 4 using X-ray and MRI findings.
