My name is Prakash Kumar. I come from Salem. For many years I have had spondylitis [as heard]. For it I had been going to many doctors. A relative of mine had taken treatment here, and that is why I came. I first came in December to see Dr. Badrinath [as heard]. He had a scan done and set out how the treatment would go. So after fifteen days, after Pongal, I came back and started the treatment. [A stretch of the recording is unclear here.] As for symptoms: first, in the morning there was stiffness, and I could not lift my arms. Bending down to pick things up was very difficult, and there was pain; I would stay a little active only by taking painkillers every day. After I came here they gave an Ayurvedic oil massage every day, about an hour of massage, and then the main treatment: first they give an oil for the vata condition, in the way of a medicated enema, and because of that the vata that had settled in has come out. Every day in the morning they apply oil, and all of that was given to reduce the stiffness, the muscle stiffness. As far as care goes, they look after you well. The massage therapists likewise all look after you well, very carefully.
