My name is Pandian. I come from Thanjavur. I am a retired BHEL engineer. In 2017 I fell off a bike. On the right side and the left side too. I was injured and there was some pain, knee pain, and for about 3 or 4 months I had injections and everything for the time being and was seen. When I was seen there was a temporary cure. After that, suddenly, some years later, a severe pain would come in the knee where I had been injured, and on a particular day the severe pain became very acute. After that I was seen locally, and then I came here to AVN, having been sent here for something rather more lasting. My referral came from my brother-in-law's wife, who is a teacher. My brother-in-law's brother-in-law's whole family, more than 15 people in all, have been taking all the treatment relating to this here for 20 or 25 years. So because they referred me, I came here and saw Dr. Biju. He first had me consult for about 1 month and wrote out medicines. So I took the medicine, and after that, because this Covid came, I was stuck in the lockdown in Chennai. After that, again in January — until then the pain was somewhat tolerable. I would apply this ointment, this sort of ointment, and give a hot bath temporarily. After that, after the lockdown, as soon as the lockdown reopened, last February, I came and was seen. At that time he said just so: if you stay here and take a course it will be better. So I took an appointment with him and came here on the 23rd. When I came, at the hospital they said, for Covid-related reasons you must take a test here, or else you need a vaccination certificate. Both my wife, who is my attender, and I had had both doses of Covishield. After having them they asked for a CBC blood test, that too for both. So I had that done in Thanjavur and mailed it to them. After that only they admitted us. After coming here we stayed there. Daily, morning and evening,both times, they gave different types of therapies. Oil therapy, oil massage, and then herbal, herbal therapy. Steam bath and that sort of thing; in addition they had given medicines too. With that, now, to a reasonable extent, that acute pain has reduced very, very much — you could even say about 80%. But it will take a little longer; you must be steady a little, they said in physio too. Continue it; they have given some medicines. Reduce this medicine, rest for a few days, and after that do only very limited work, they gave instructions. I will follow it and see. The atmosphere here is very good, a resort atmosphere. The staff's attention comes continuously. They come and ask whether it is good, whether it is right, whether you need anything; whether it is all the canteen staff, or their pharmacy, or the sanitation, or the nursing. The doctors' visits and the therapists all did it very patiently and well. That is a big thing. That good coordination is what I liked very much about this hospital. From the patient's admission to discharge, everything, whether the medicine or the lab, all the coordination is very good. There is a good atmosphere. This one week or 10 days, while you are here, there is a good setting. Apart from the treatment there is a good setting. So even next time I have the idea of coming again after another year, even for a recuperation or for wellness. The doctor has given medicine for about 2 months, and after finishing it we can even do the review with him by phone. If it is needed we can come here. He has said we must review. So that AVN — and not only that, I — many people; even the day before yesterday, when we were admitted, my younger sister was also struggling a great deal, unable to walk. Age 52. Then she was asked to come and she was seen too. Since coming myself I have referred about 6 or 8 people to this hospital. They have come. Somepeople, because they have no patience, cannot manage to stay. That sort of situation. So I have been referring a lot of people; you get a lasting solution here, because my own past history was like that. Many families and many people have been here, so for me too, after they came, a good — you could say about 80-90% of my acute pain is well settled.
