— Hello, sir. — Hello. — Sir, will you tell us a little about yourself? — My name is Ponnambalam. I was an officer in the Education Department. I have retired. For about 3 or 4 years this knee pain has been going on. I was taking treatment for it myself. — How many years had you had that problem? — About three or four years. Four years. — So what treatment did you take all this time, sir? — As for treatment, the treatment I knew was yoga. I thought that was a treatment. I got some relief from that yoga. So I took that itself as the treatment. After that, through some friends, there was some medicated oil; I would apply that oil and bathe in hot water. That was all. — So, medicines of your own. Okay. So now you have come to AVN, have you not, sir? Who told you about AVN? How do you know about AVN? — My doctor. Dr. Annapoorani. There is a 3V College for Women in Virudhunagar. She is a professor there. Her colleagues told her about this AVN. Knowing that information, I got an opportunity to come here. — Okay, sir. How many days of treatment have you taken here, sir? — I have been taking it for ten days now. Before that I had been coming as an outpatient for about three months. When I came as an outpatient they saw me and gave tablets, oil, and then a medicine for applying poultices, and we all did it keeping it at home. They said, come and be seen from time to time. With that I only got about 15% improvement. Then, one time when I came, Dr. Biju said and suggested, why don't you stay for about 10 days, he asked. After that I got the facility to stay here. — So in these 10 days have you got relief? What percentage of relief have you got? — 25% relief now. — Okay. So not normal but manageable, like that. — Rather than saying not normal, I have gained confidence — I have got a confidence that it will heal. — Okay sir, very good. Sir, tell us a little about the hospital; howdo you feel about this hospital? Does it feel like home to home, or home to hospital? — What I feel at the hospital is a good atmosphere. I like this atmosphere very much. That is, seeing plants and flowers and all of this is something I love. Why that came about is that I was a student at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. There they educated me in all this. How to appreciate nature, how to appreciate a flower — they told me all that. But an atmosphere in a setting like this I had never found until now. It is here that I have found it. I enjoy that very much. — Okay sir, very good sir. Madam, you tell us; how do you feel here at AVN? — It is a very delightful setting. And they have looked after my father well; periodically, one session in the morning and one session in the evening, they gave the treatment. Maybe that oil — they applied different kinds of oil and put on poultices. At home they would not even let us put it on. My father would put it on himself. Now the hospital staff here spend the time well, spending an hour or an hour and a half and giving it well, and visibly we can see a change. So after another break we will come and join again. Okay. Frequently join and get good treatment. — Okay. So you are well satisfied with the treatment here. — Yes, I am satisfied with the treatment and the atmosphere and the staff members. On the whole, the doctors, the management — I thank the management, the doctors, the other staff members and everybody. — Okay, ma'am. — There is no feeling at all of being in a different atmosphere away from home. There is a feeling just like being at home. In that, the hospitality, the kindness, and they keep creating a confidence in me. I liked that very much. — Yes, that belief must be there first. There must be a confidence that we will come right. — Sure. And I know a little about the Ayurvedic medicine of the old days. Now, comeand look here; on the label it says Ayurveda. There is a scene of allopathy here too. — Yes, they have blended the two a little, because it is in our logo itself, did you see — nature and science healing together. So we take Ayurveda plus whatever else is a plus for us, and the result should be good. — Yes. In that, the patient should be cured out of it. — Mm, it should be cured, like that. Ayurvedic doctors and allopathic doctors. Concentration. They join together in healing the patient. An atmosphere like that. — Sure. — I am very satisfied with that. — Okay, sir, good. Okay, ma'am; also in future will you recommend it to some other person if they have any — — Definitely, definitely. Okay. We will also come again. Okay. Get 100% cure. Okay, ma'am, after some break we will come. — Sure. — One more point. The dietician — they came and suggested well what to eat and how to eat. Okay. That I really liked. Okay. Some vegetables apart from rice, some other food. One thing I would like to say. The idli prepared here would be good if it were a little softer. Softer. — Very good. Your suggestions are a plus for us. — That is one. And then the rice is a little coarse. If it were a slightly finer rice. — Sure. — For all of us that would be comfortable. We eat only for hunger. Even so, yes, there should be a little softness for aged people. — Sure, sir. Okay, sir, thank you very much for spending this time. — Thank you, madam. Thank you.
