For family members
A personal message from Dr. Ramesh to families
If you are reading this, you are likely researching treatment options for someone you care about. Dr. Ramesh R. Varier, our Chief Physician with over 35 years of clinical experience, addresses the concerns that families bring to him most often — in his own words, directly to you.
What I want families to know
The text below captures what Dr. Ramesh typically shares with families during their first conversation. It will complement the video message once recorded.
“When a family member calls us, I know what they are really asking. Not ‘what is your treatment?’ but ‘can I trust you with my parent?’”
— Dr. Ramesh R. Varier, Chief Physician
I will be honest with you about what we can and cannot do
In 35 years of clinical practice, I have learned that honesty is more healing than optimism. If your parent has Grade 1 or Grade 2 AVN, I am confident we can help — our outcomes data supports this. If they have Grade 4, I will tell you that surgery is likely the better path, and I will help you prepare for it rather than give you false hope.
This is a hospital, not a wellness retreat
We are NABH-accredited, with a 100-bed inpatient facility, a full pharmacy, physiotherapy department, and clinical laboratory. Your parent will be under physician supervision throughout their stay. The treatments are medical protocols, not spa services. The atmosphere is warm and caring, but the intent is clinical and outcome-focused.
The first consultation is for you too, not just the patient
I encourage family members to join the first consultation — in person, by phone, or by video call. Ask every question you have. Challenge what I say. A sceptical family member who asks hard questions is more helpful to the patient than one who agrees silently. I would rather spend an hour answering your doubts than have you worry silently for three weeks while your parent is in treatment.
We work with your parent's existing doctors, not against them
If your parent has an orthopaedic surgeon, a rheumatologist, or a pain specialist — good. We share records, coordinate care, and respect their recommendations. Our role is to offer a complementary approach, not to replace the medical team your parent already trusts.
