Allopathy & Ayurvedic Treatment for Reactive Arthritis

The treatment for reactive arthritis depends on the stage of the disease and the causative organism and is aimed at relieving inflammation and preventing further attacks.

Treatment for Reactive Arthritis in Contemporary Medicine (Allopathy)

In acute stage, treatment of Reactive arthritis comprises of administration of Pain killers like Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in addition to anti-biotics specific for the infection. In many cases it is self-limiting but it can also become chronic in some patients. In chronic cases Steroids and Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic drugs (DMARD) are administered along with appropriate antibiotics based on the causative organism. Local steroids are used for control of Uveitis or Iritis.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Reactive Arthritis

In Ayurveda, Reactive arthritis is considered a form of AMAVATA only and treatment of Reactive arthritis is the same as for treatment of AMAVATA. The only difference is that, the infection in the other parts is also taken into consideration and appropriate medication is also added to the treatment protocol.
